Run by: The Escape Key

In the year 1636 old Newcastle on Tyne was in the shadow of the Black Death, the plague having killed almost half of the population of the city. Many were buried in mass plague pits right outside this building. Fear and suspicion were rife. People believed god had turned his back upon those who had the puss oozing boils of rotting putrid flesh. Mother refused child and brother refused brother as if they never knew them, man turned its back on man and family on family. Every door had the cross of death painted upon its wood, a stark warning that them inside were doomed to die. No one survived the Black Death. Plague doctors visited only to "lessen the suffering" - for a fee of course - and were known to use arsenic to kill victims quickly, but sometimes slowly with 'blades and hammers'.
